Answers & sources

Citations, copying, reading aloud, regenerating and comparing, and the interactive pieces an answer can carry.

Citations

When an answer draws on a web search or a page the model read, the claim is followed by a small citation chip: the site's icon and name in small print. Hover it for a card with the page's title, site and extract. A chip that stands for several sources reads like Reuters +2; its card pages through them with ← and →.

Sources are numbered through the whole chat, not per answer: a source found in the first answer keeps its number when a later answer cites it again.

Sources under an answer opens the chat's panel on that answer's sources, split into those it cited and the others it found. A search that brings back pictures or videos shows them as a gallery under the answer; pictures open in a viewer.

The action bar

Each answer ends with a row of actions:

  • Copy — the answer as text. Citations become [1], [2] … with a References list at the end, so the copy reads well anywhere you paste it.
  • Read aloud — speaks the answer with OpenAI's text-to-speech (voice, speed and format under Settings → Voice).
  • Regenerate — asks again (below).
  • Sources — the answer's sources, as above.

Regenerate and compare

Regenerate asks the same question again and shows the new answer beside the previous one, so you can compare them. On a narrow window the two become tabs, Answer 1 and Answer 2. Pick the one to keep with Use this one; the other is put away and the conversation carries on from your choice. If you just send your next message instead, the newer answer that finished cleanly is kept for you.

Regenerate: two answers to one question side by side, each with “Use this one”.

Questions and confirmations

Sometimes the model needs something from you before it goes on. Instead of a wall of text it can ask:

  • A questionnaire — one question at a time (Question 1 of 2), with options, Other… for your own answer, Previous / Skip / Next, and Anything else? before Submit. Your answers appear as a card, and the questionnaire turns into a summary marked Answered.
  • A confirmation — what it is about to do, with Approve and Reject (and an optional note). Nothing happens until you choose.

Answered blocks stay answered when you reopen the chat — on the desktop or on the iPhone.

Rich answers

A few kinds of content are drawn rather than written out:

  • Steps — a how-to as a numbered card, with pictures where the search found them.
  • Stock charts — a symbol's chart from TradingView, which opens the symbol's page in your browser. (TradingView sees the symbol and your IP address, as any embedded chart would.)
  • People, places and things — a dotted name opens Wikipedia's summary and picture, in your language when Wikipedia has it; Read more on Wikipedia opens the article.

Pictures from other sites

A picture an answer links to from a site that was not part of its own search results shows as a placeholder with Load image until you click it, so a page cannot make Actovia fetch something by itself.
