Actovia

Introduction

How Actovia works, for the people who run it.

Actovia is a personal AI assistant that runs on your own computer. These pages are the technical side: where things live, how the pieces connect, and what every command does.

The pieces

  • The desktop app (macOS, Windows, Linux) is the hub. It holds your chats, memories, settings and API keys, talks to the model providers with your own keys, and serves everything else.
  • The iPhone app is a remote for the desktop app. Once paired, it chats, edits settings and reads results through the computer — at home over the local network, or from anywhere over Tailscale.
  • The CLI (actovia) works on the machine the desktop app runs on: it reports the app's state, updates, locks and restarts it, reads its log, pairs phones and manages skills. It is what you use on a computer you reach only over SSH.
