Coding agents
Claude Code and Codex as Philharmonic employees, working in a folder of yours.
A coding agent is a Philharmonic employee run by a coding CLI you have installed and logged into — Claude Code or Codex. Actovia starts it in the group's folder, hands it the step, and shows its work as it goes. It uses your own plan with that CLI's provider.
Setting up
Settings → Agents checks each CLI on this Mac — Ready, Not installed, Too old, Not logged in or Broken — with a hint for what to do, and Check looks again. The same page sets:
- Projects folder — where New project… creates projects and every
project keeps its notes (default
~/Actovia Projects). - Agents at once — more steps wait for a free slot.
- Keep an agent ready (minutes) — how long a process waits for the next step.
- Separate worktrees — when two agents work in the same git repository at once, each gets its own worktree and branch. Merging is up to you.

Then add an employee in Workforce with Runs on set to the CLI, a
Model as the CLI names it (opus, sonnet, haiku, or a full id), and
Permissions:
| Claude Code | Codex |
|---|---|
| Ask before changes | Ask before every command and file change |
| Edit files freely, ask before commands | Work freely inside the folder; ask to go beyond it |
| Auto (the CLI decides what is safe) | Never ask; only inside the folder, no network |
Codex always works in a sandbox limited to the group's folder.
While it works
Each step is a card: Working, Waiting for you, Done or Stopped, with the steps it took. When the agent wants to do something its permissions do not cover, the card says … wants to use … with the full command or diff: Allow, or Deny with an optional reason it will follow. If the window is in the background, a notification says … is waiting for you.
- Stop ends the step; the group carries on.
- Continue in Terminal opens the same session in Terminal; Actovia picks it up again on its next step.
- A later step in the same group continues the same session, so the agent remembers what it did.
Answering an agent's prompt needs you — at the Actovia window or on your paired iPhone. Opening folders and continuing in Terminal are desktop only.
